But in all honesty, it depends what kind he’s watching. 99% of the time , yes it’s a red flag. most anime that men watch is very sexualized and it’s always about 12/13/14 year old girls bouncing around with giant boobs. I think most are also porn sick and watch hentai as well.
I tend to stay away from men that watch. My own brother is a neck beard anime guy and he gives everyone the ick. He’s your stereotypical anime watcher. So I personally can’t with men that watch it.
My bf is kinda a nerd , but he dislikes a majority of anime but most of his friends watch it and the things he’s told me about some of it is insane. I just don’t think a normal man would be into it.
I feel like I've grown out of anime because so much of it is sexualized and misogynist, and the rest is male power fantasies. Yes there are still some good ones, but I've never met a full on anime nerd who wasn't into the gross stuff. It comes with the subculture to normalize borderline pedo shit and/or gratuitous violence. As with many things, I prefer a man who is open to nerdy stuff (like me) but isn't totally immersed in it or builds their whole identity around it. Getting TOO lost in entertainment is almost always a red flag, be it TV shows, video games, movies... sometimes even genres of books or music. In short, fanboys almost always suck.

I have a lot of nerdy interests too... like fantasy books, Zelda (the only game I really like) casually like some (non-misogynistic) anime... I feel like it's so hard to navigate finding someone who shares those cause nerdy guys are usually so problematic.
Even if they seem to like similar ones to me, I just know in the bg they probably watch the gross anime too 😭 Like I might hear about one that's apparently good to watch, but have to shut it off as soon as there's a r*** scene for no reason. So why is it being said it's good? Cause these dudes dont care and like it.
Yep, that's why I go for people who are kinda nerdy/"alternative" but not too invested into any fandom or subculture. Those people usually also look fairly normal on the outside.
I love anime, and grew up watching it, and would say I would still definitely question any man who frequently watched anime. Some shows are better than others but most is LV/appeals to scrotes.

YES, IT IS!!!! OH MY GOD, I didn’t realize how much I’ve been waiting for this post until I saw it.
I’m not familiar with anime. It’s never appealed to me, I think cartoons for adults are weird (family guy, south park, etc.). What I AM familiar with is fans of anime, especially male fans of anime. They are all fucking WEIRD. Complete misogynists, unrealistic (& creepy) expectations of relationships & women in general…honestly, they’re just generally huge fucking losers. Steer clear. 🚩
If he likes one show then no It's not a red flag. I like Streetfighter and Teknoman when I was little but right now there are some anime's I still like but to say I'm a fan is farfetched. The loli's and the waifu males are creepy or those obsessive collectors who have all the merchandise of one show. They resemble like man children. There was a creepy shrek looking content creator/streamer who was asking for money because youtube doesn't pay well anymore and dudes were literally telling him to sell his dolls on Amazon, Imagine having that dude as your partner.

Yes, with rare exceptions.
I knew one HVM in college who said he watched it when he was a teenager. He was never obsessed with it, and it was never a big part of his life. I don't think he watched any anime in college.
I consider anime something a pre-teen or younger teenager would watch. Any adult man who watches anime on the regular is most likely an LVM.
YES!!!!!

I've grown up watching tonnes of anime and YES. Men who like anime are garbage.
Unless they strictly watch anime that does not centre around sexualising women and minors. There aren't many anime series or movies like that.

If it’s a series here and there like initial D or DBZ, I don’t mind. If it’s his whole personality then absolutely not. Same with gaming.
Personally, yes. I find they’re usually weird and overly obsessed with it.

Mmm it depends - I don’t know much about anime but every time I try and watch a show it always gives me weird vibes and I’m just not into it.
If he's into Hellsing it's a green flag to me because that shit's good
Buuut if he watches Sword Art Online girl run lol
