I'm putting this under "vetting" for lack of a better idea. Not sure I'd out-and-out vet someone based on their occupation, but it's nice to see that my current squeeze is way down in the blue section on the man's side. And I love how lady lawyers are apparently very good at ruthless pre-marriage vetting. :)

My interpretation is that earning decent wages and working regular hours reduces divorce. I don’t put much stock in it beyond that.
Also my male-dominated profession is only listed on the “men” side of this list, I understand it’s not a 50 biggest occupation for women, but still rubs me the wrong way 😒
Noticed the lower paying jobs and jobs requiring less or no education have the higher divorce rates. Money problems out relationship troubles and individual shortcomings as much as having a kid does.
I see trades are up there, police officers definitely. Something about the blue collar work that fills that stereotype, even what you see on a typical sitcom with a shitty husband and hot wife.
For the women, what area of occupations in that list would constitute IT field? I see "Computer occupations"? Is this just not there for the women side because of lack of reporting for not many women in IT?
Additionally, I was a medical assistant although I have not been married but, for vetting when I *was* dating I encountered and attracted a lot of the tradesman. And IDK I just didn't like any man in any step of my own career... from schooling to entering my occupation.. and now trying to change my career. Just looking at the men's side of the occupations makes me wonder which ones I personally got along with.
Ah, it would be great to go in depth and see theories of why. I know I have read that women who are massage therapists have some of the highest divorce rates. I assume the husbands probably are extra jealous knowing their wives touch strangers.
the home health aide and nurse professions being at the top of this list makes sense with that theory, the men will assume an intimacy is happening just because their wife has to touch people as part of their job.
edit: also those jobs are unnecessarily sexualized by men often. So are waitress/ restaurant jobs and a few other ones I noticed on here
It's interesting how personal care aides is at the top but childcare is in solid blue
So at what number does it become “good?” We could argue that if they don’t marry, they can’t divorce and also, maybe the lawyers don’t want the fuss of the legal system.
Fascinating. Thanks for sharing. Would be nice to see top 100 professions/more professions/fields included.
I guess this doesn't account for couples that don't marry. But interesting.
