A while ago, I had a male acquaintance who took quite a while to text me back. I found myself making excuses for him- “maybe he’s busy, maybe he meant to text back, etc.” Now, I don’t do that, and I wish I hadn’t engaged with him in the first place. If he wanted to text back promptly, he would’ve. If he had had a good excuse for the waits and if he were genuinely respectful and mature, he would’ve explained them to me. I caught myself making excuses. (Thank goodness I stopped) Hopefully this was a gentle reminder to anyone who needed it.
