He was born an “untouchable” in a remote village of India in 1949. He grew up to become an artist and drew street portraits in Delhi. In 1975, he first met Charlotte von Schedvin.
A few days after, they travelled to his native village in Orissa where they met PK’s family members. She needed to get back to Sweden and finish school. They continued to keep in touch through letters.
He decided to sell all his possessions to buy a bicycle to see her.
