... and every time you think "Oh, maybe that's actually a decent man" they do something terrible and it's all ruined.
Just recently I was sitting behind a middle-aged man on the train. He was talking on the phone to a woman and being so sweet and saying how much he loved her and how much he had missed her and that he was looking forward to seeing her. And I sat there and thought "Aw, how sweet. He is missing his wife and can't wait to go home to her".
And then his stop comes and he gets up, takes his suitcase and goes to stand in front of the doors and I see him casually remove his wedding ring and hide it in his wallet. Then he gets off and goes to meet a woman on the platform with a bright smile on his face. That bastard wasn't talking to his wife. He was talking to his mistress (who probably doesn't know he's married or he wouldn't have to hide the ring).
I’ve known 3 HVM in my life (I’m 52). I know them fairly well, and they are truly decent people. They are also low-key, never dated around, but settled down quickly, marrying a HV woman (she’s not necessarily hot, but HV).
I wouldn’t call them Kings, but they are unproblematic. I’ve known them for decades - they’ve never screwed up (ie no scandals), and they just live quiet, family-oriented lives.
So of the men I’ve known fairly well over a lifetime - 3/3000 = .1%
This sounds discouraging! Maybe I just ran with the wrong crowds and there are loads of HVM somewhere…out there…

honestly, i think unproblematic kings are folklore.
