In my younger years I had a habit of making these big sweeping NYR's that would always make me feel like a failure by March. I've dug myself out of that habit for a few years and while I keep them pretty basic now...I find them more motivating.
For internet accountability's sake, my 2025 resolutions are:
*Read at least 12 books (suggestions welcome)
*Run 3 5k's to build up my speed (typically a distance girl)
*Reward myself more often for my accomplishments
What are some manageable for mere mortals New Years Resolutions that you've been pondering?
For me, achievable goals are goals that include something specific and have a clear strategy.
Instead of “exercise more” I write down “take a walk after work every day,” or “do yoga 5x per week.”
Here are some of my personal goals for 2025:
-Eat a giant salad at least once per week (the larger goal here is to eat more fresh, in-season produce)
-Ask for more, make my needs and desires known through speaking them to the one who can fulfill them. To get specific, make at least one request of my partner each time we are together. (This can be as small as asking him to make me espresso in the morning, but I hope to build up to larger requests, which have always been a challenge for me.)
-Go to a concert with my friend Willow (we haven’t spent as much time together the last couple years as I would like to)
-Complete 3 sewing projects
-Learn to play 5 songs on piano
I start small with my goals to make them feel more achievable. I know that once I’ve started, I’m likely to keep going because I’ve recognized how great doing these things makes me feel.
Another suggestion I saw online was to gameify your resolutions by creating a bingo card with your goals. This would work best with things that you can achieve once and then cross off, but you could also make daily or weekly bingo cards with the steps that will help you work towards achieving those loftier goals.
Taking better care of my skin and hair
Reading books as well
Expanding my social circle, I have already joined some online group and will hopefully meet several women I do not know for dinner soon✌️
