I have PTSD from men who have that kind of accent. The East Coast working class is rife with misogynists who disrespect their wives and girlfriends aggressively in public.
A bunch of comments from men saying, “haha you’ve never been in a relationship then!” to women who call out the video as not being goals / feeling like husband could be abusive.
I'm thoroughly impressed that after 70 yrs of oppression and abuse, she still exudes whimsy & joy in simple moments! That's some Queen shit right there! She may be married to biggest scrote of all, but she's still WINNING! Good for her!
How is it "winning" to take abuse with a smile and to stay in an abusive relationship for 70 years?
That sounds like the definition of losing and Stockholm syndrome to me. Winning would have been leaving his scrotey ass after the first time he disrespected her. Hell, winning would be her killing him in some sneaky way and getting away with it and living her best life with the inheritance.
They'e been together for 70yrs....in a perfect world she'd have had the agency to make a different choice all those years ago, or barring that, she should be able to leave him right this moment and still be able to survive financially. That was/is most likely NOT her reality. She's from my parents generation. Given her age, the choices and socialization she had AT THE TIME, other pressures to follow the herd into the bondage of marriage/likely children too played into the dynamics of how she ended up with this asshole.
I grew up watching women like her, trapped with no escape. Assuming she's in the US, she didn't even have the 'right' to open a credit account without either her father or husband's 'permission' until 1974! I was completely gobsmacked when I learned in my teens that my own mother couldn't have a credit card in her name until after I was 4 years old!
But despite a literal lifetime of abuses at the hands of that scrote, she still manages to find a moment of joy. I like to imagine she's celebrating his terminal diagnosis they just received as she had to nursemaid/Driving Mr Dusty his sorry ass to the doctor!
So, I guess it's all in how you look at things. I wish she (and all women throughout history) had the freedom and choices that I have had in my life, but since she didn't, she's clearly still got a spark, again, finding a moment of happy (and since she's been w/the scrote for 70+yrs, she likely knows her being happy is just gonna piss him off, but she clearly is out of fucks to give).
So in my book, she's making the best of a clearly horrid situation. That's what all strong women do. Endure!
