She's stunning, rich and doesn't need that melted candle on her arm for anything. He's hideous and should have married her immediately, given he looks like a toad. Pour one out for another one lost.
I wonder if different rules apply when you're very wealthy and famous. Because I don't see why she married him at all. Obviously, I'm missing something here.
i do think it's different when you're a rich celebrity.
There's usually so much money and investments involved.
Now, I don't see the point in getting engaged for that long. It seems like she didn't want to marry him. It could've been him, but I got the feeling she was the one putting off the marriage.
Her net worth is 40 million while his is 18. So clearly she didn’t wait this long for money. And the caption implies she wanted to keep it to a long engagement, not him? So I guess it’s not the worst. But the 17 year age gap just gives me the ick and a 19 year old engagement is ?????? I’m just imagining how many of their family and friends could have passed away within 19 years.
I understand taking time since he proposed to her after only one month of knowing her, but I have to wonder whether she really wanted to be married to him or is she feeling pressure at this point after so many years.
The age gap is creepy but at least he didn't chase her in her 20s early 30s like most washed up creeps do. Still having a man 20 years older than you is a bad move, by the looks of this dude in maybe 5 years she can play his hospice wife.
Waiting with marriage this long and such a huge age gap is not a good example to set for your young fans.
At the risk of getting banned, yelled at, starting an argument, whatever the fuck, this is not a useful, interesting, or enriching post.
Michelle Yeoh married a dude who is 17 years her senior. Everybody seems quite upset at this. At a glance, this sounds like a proper reaction, right? Ew massive age gaps, right? Well, the kicker is that that Michelle Yeoh is 60 YEARS OLD while her husband is 77 YEARS OLD. A bit of a gap, yes, but not really that strange, like a 19 year old girl marrying a 35 year old man would be strange.
After a certain point, large age gaps aren't an issue. A 45 year old woman marrying a 60 year old man is quite the gap, but both people involved are rational, fully developed humans capable of making their own choices. I see no reason to knock anybody involved in this marriage beyond personal hangups.
Also, this Jean Henri Todt character is the definition of a HVM and not some random scrote. Just look at his wikipedia page. He's obviously ambitious, wealthy, studded with meaningful achievements/titles, and seems to have a relatively clean record, personally and legally speaking. The only thing one could fault Todt is that he's not a stunner compared to somebody like Yoeh, but this isn't really a fault. Some males just look weird, especially if they are over the age of seventy. Looks aren't the end all be all in many relationships.
I'm well aware you didn't insult his appearance like others did here, which I'm glad for because that just seems weirdly hostile and uncalled for, but the age gap issue doesn't apply here. They're both grown adults older than me (26 years old) with fully developed minds. I also fail to see how a well-established actor richer than everybody here would feel pressured into a marriage she doesn't even need to think of getting into. There is nothing here to worry about.
I can respect your opinion that the age gap factor doesn’t matter here, however I don’t think it’s wrong for other women to have the opinion that age gaps in general can be problematic. It’s not as predatory or inherently harmful as when the younger person involved is way younger than Michelle, but I’ve heard from older women as well about how much they regret getting with an older man.
She isn’t pressured to marry in the same way as non wealthy women are, but I can imagine the time frame of them being engaged potentially making her feel like she should go through with it when she might prefer not to (since she said the paper doesn’t matter to her, it matters to him.)
You have every right to not feel the ick or to not think there’s any thing wrong with their marriage. But I also think other women are allowed to feel differently from you in this regard. Maybe you and I'm sure many other people don't think there's any thing to worry about, but some of us do. And that's okay.
Thanks for being a voice of reason, I agree with you. I get the impression it was actually Michelle Yeoh who didn't want to make the marriage official. She may truly just be someone who didn't care about the piece of paper or legal protection until now. People in this thread are being extremely reactionary.
How humiliating.

The age gap is disgusting.

So she was 41 and he was 58 when they met. Gross.

Why is that stunner with that hobbit ????
She's gorgeous. He looks like a soggy dumpling. I'm sad she's giving up her strength for him.
I think we shouldn’t judge celebrity/mega rich relationships in the same way. Everything is just so different for them.
