I’m not religious. My spirituality is mostly centered around mindfulness and taking what resonates with me from different belief systems.
I got into astrology around a year ago because I found it to be a very useful tool to understand myself and my relationships with the people around me. I’m aware there’s some skepticism and shame surrounding it, mostly because of men who look down on it as some vapid BS. Unsurprising for them to think that way because I know that a huge chunk of the people who ascribe to astrology are women. Classic manifestation of misogyny.
If anything, all the quips I‘ve heard from men, making fun of me for believing in it despite being a STEM major, have only pushed me to double down on my interest in astrology. It’s like they can’t grasp that an ancient form of spirituality and modern science can be appreciated by a woman at the same time.
Anyway, I was wondering how we could potentially use astrology as a vetting tool, or if it should even be considered for this use in any capacity. Certain planetary placements could potentially tell you a lot about the man you’re vetting. When I checked my synastry with my ex two years after we broke up, I’ve found that most of the challenging/difficult aspects we had actually manifested in the relationship. After studying his placements, I also now know which placements I should avoid in a future partner 😂 But of course it all boils down to synastry.
Long before I knew I had an Aries Venus, I also had a pattern of making the first move (which was what happened with my ex). And because FDS doesn’t recommend us to do any pursuing EVER, I’ve found it really difficult to stomp the urge down to pursue. At most, the only ”pursuing“ I should be doing is dropping a hint lol.
Any of my ladies out here who are into astrology and have placements that cause you to have impulses that are quite contrary to what FDS recommends? How do you reconcile them?
I subscribe to the astrologer Mystic Medusa (www.mysticmedusa.com) and she's VERY FDS aligned. While she acknowledges synastry can be nice, it means little if the man is low value. She sees astro more as a planning tool for the individual and even has a special term for Pickmeisha behaviour: Love Zombies.
In this blog post, she advises a subscriber who is mooning over some unavailable man:
He also sounds like a fuqwit. Random hangout hookups? I am not a huge fan of manifesting, as such, but if you are going to do it, only try with your self-regard at a high vibe. It will repel these types of characters. And never try to manifest love when you’re feeling needy or must-have.
But we can have an odd energetic connection with some people. It can be a soulmate link – not necessarily an indicator of good relationship material – or an essentially invincible Mars-Venus connection.
I've been to India before twice (backpacked the entire country last in 2018 for four months) and met many astrologers there. Some Indian parents even called up their sons and tried asking me for my birth date to match with their sons 😂😂 But yes after many encounters with astrologers in India I concluded sometimes there's some truth but like with anything spiritually I think that anything that's not dealing with God directly should be taken with a grain of salt. I've met many covert narcissist men aka spiritual narcissists who were into astrology and tried getting my chart to use against me to manipulate. That's why I'm wary of men who are into a primarily female dominated area cause usually they're predators and manipulators trying to find our weak points. They're not actually spiritual like women are and they're just using it to try and gaslight us and say something like oh I saw in your chart you'd be like this so it must be aligned with the stars or some BS like that. Religion and spirituality can be weaponized to abuse women so that should be taken into account.
It's a good hobby, MBTI too. Although the latter is more confusing because it is not exact but through analysis...
But I wouldn't take it too seriously. Mainly due to the fact that astrology deals little with the aspect of sexual dimorphism.
I bet the average Aquarius woman is much more loving and faithful to her partner than the average Cancer man.
astrology is an field of study based on archetypes, and, as with any field, it’s worth it to ask: who is defining those archetypes? who do these narratives benefit?
IMHO for serious relationships, it's better to stick to dating water and earth sun signs, if you are water or earth and respectively air and fire if your sun is in air or fire.
But you can't really use astrology alone as a vetting tool. Most people don't know exact time of birth, some even have their birth certificate off by days, like in case they were somewhere remote, there was a snowstorm or some kind of holiday bureaucracy hold off.
You could find out years when Pluto and Saturn make hard aspects to your natal planets, and avoid people born in those years. But I don't really see how that can be applied in person. Would you ask everybody who caught your eye to show you their id? 🤔
