Why are scrotes okay with being useless losers?

Its so lame. I was kind of allowed to be a lazy bum as a kid but it eventually stopped when i realized how my laziness effects everyone. I guess that's difference between women and scrotes. We actually care about how our actions effect other people

Yep. My ex was a workaholic, but he was also sooo dependent on external validation. This is the other extreme of being motivated by status and praise only. And of course, the only validation that mattered was that of other men. Men are truly "homo-social", as in they seek approval from other men, not from women. Whatever I thought was great about him didn't matter. My opinion didn't matter. He could have worked less and he would have had all my admiration, but he chose to spend his life trying to impress other men. He always acted very differently among his male peers than he did in private with me. I absolutely hated it. Unsurprisingly, he had massive daddy issues. I foolishy believed I could "heal" something in him with my love, but we all know that doesn't work. He happily continued to undermine me if it meant he would gain a better social standing with his boss, his friends or his colleagues. I now have a partner who takes my opinion seriously, and would rather make me happy than care about what others think. He has incurred quite a few "social penalties" in his last relationship too because he prioritized the well-being of his partner over that of others, and he says he'd always do it again.

This is exactly it! My father is a LVM but the one thing I will say for him is that he always worked and he did provide for his family. My father is very critical of young men and how lazy they are. According to my father, back when he was young (we're talking the 1960's), people wouldn't have tolerated a man who lived with his parents and didn't work. Most parents wouldn't have tolerated it and they'd have thrown the son out of the house if he refused to get a job. Also even if the parents did tolerate it, most other people wouldn't. Most people would have openly criticised a man like that and most of the other fathers in the village would have warned their daughters not to date him because no way would he ever be able to provide for a family.

Nowadays, people seem to just accept this behaviour. People call these men "depressed" and insist that they deserve our pity rather than our scorn. Well, I for one, think that my father's generation were right (about this issue anyway). For a able-bodied person to just lay about their parents' house, not working or contributing to society is a disgrace and these men should be called out for it.

Like you, it astouds me how much validation men need that they essentially self-destruct when they don't get any. It's wildly pathetic. Learning how needy men really are has shown me that the only strength they have is physical strength. Women tend to be more resilient than men. Of course, you have women who also live for validation and do dangerous things to themselves and others to get it, but I see a lot more women with a "get up and go" type of attitude. Men will let one set back set them back forever.

It's like how they behave when a woman rejects them. They are never the same again. They never ask a woman out because they perpertually fear rejection. Many become bitter and state that "all women are nasty bitches".....all because one woman rejected them. They run from emotional connections because they fear being hurt again. It's pathetic.

This is such a good idea! Make them do something!

I don't even mean it as a punishment. I honestly think they would benefit from having a regular work day and some structure in their day and to maybe even learn a few job skills, meet people and find someone to give them a reference. There is a (voluntary) non-profit program like this for disabled people and people who have trouble finding work here and it's very successful. They are basically rotating people through different tasks (landscaping/gardening, working in a thrift shop and restaurant run by the organization, different internships in local firms and some more). That way people who may not have any previous skills and who would not have been given a chance by regular employers have the chance to learn some job skills, gain some experience and confidence working and to slowly get used to everything again with guidance and supervision.

Once you get used to sitting around and sleeping in every day it gets so much harder to go back to a regular schedule and physically or mentally demanding work.

Same, girl, same. I struggled with severe depression for a few years and still managed to take care of myself AND be a main caretaker for a dying parent. I was too ashamed to apply for government help for myself, and when I did, despite my issues, they tried to tell me that I didn't deserve help. Thankfully, something changed.

Oh in that time, I also managed to teach myself degree-level skills in a completely different sector. All while suicidal, an insomniac and barely able to eat in addition to all the above. Wow I forget how bad it was.

I'm so bored of depressed people who are basically lazy thinking lazy fucks. Jesus it's so hard to talk to these people with their privilege.

I'm dying because this exact complaint was in the post that sparked me making this one lmfao. This is why men can't tell me they don't need women. The moment they get zero attention from women they opt out of life entirely and resort to be as useful as a paperweight. 

I swear something is wrong with modern men.

I know they've never been great, but they've just gotten so bad in a generation.

Sometimes I want to just opt out of life too. I have periods of depression too. But I find having a job and working helps with that. It gives a purpose in life.

These guys say they can't work because they're depressed and don't have a gf.

Maybe if they actually did something they wouldn't feel so depressed and having a gf won't make them happier.

It's not your imagination. There have ALWAYS been men that were just plain bums since the beginning of time. I am thinking of my parents' generation (boomers) and there were a few (heh, like my uncle!) but NOT that many, really. Before that? My grandfathers and great-grandfathers, uncles, great-uncles, etc HUSTLED to provide for themselves and their families. If they didn't work, they didn't eat, plain and simple.

But now it's the NORM to just....use oxygen. And as others have pointed out, always with the blame game. ALWAYS.

When I was younger I used to think Hank was so boring and straight laced. I guess that's the point of him. But I couldn't see the appeal.

I re watched king of the hill last year and now I think Peggy got the best husband out of the 3 main female characters.
