I went to Quora to find some explanations straight from the hoese's mouth as to why men cheat instead of getting a divorce and the most common answer from self-admitted unfaithful men was that they wanted to keep their marriages going was "for the sake of the kids"
But like, if you love your kids so much, why are you disrespecting their mother (i.e the woman who risked her life via pregnancy to bring them into this world and who most likely does the majority of child-rearing responsibilities around the house) in the first place?
And all this to say, when a scrote claims that he's refusing to divorce the wife he cheats on "for the sake of the kids" what he really means is "I don't want to give up my community status as a Family Man and lose the social capital that comes with it"

That was my dad's excuse too, but then he didn't even wait until both kids moved out before he left because once I (read: the female child) "escaped" his jealousy overcame him and he could no longer keep up the facade.
After years of sullen moodiness and thinly veiled resentment, he made to leave. I called him out. So did my brother. He saw the preview of the consequences his actions would have and chickened out, made us miserable with his impotent resentment for another year, and only then finally grew the spine to follow through.
The worst part of all of this was because my parents "reconciled" our family never shared the problem until he actually left at which point no one believed us and said we were basically retconning the story to blade him in the back, and it was actually all of US being mean to HIM. His entire family took his side and disowned us, and in the years since he's burned about every bridge he ever had and we still have people coming out of the woodwork to say they either suspected all along, knew all along, or found out since my parents separated that believing my dad was a mistake because my mom wasn't lying.
This is why I think we need to absolutely obliterate the social capital of deadbeat fathers, especially ones that "monkey branched" to a mistress before leaving. Cruelest and simultaneously oldest trick in the book and men get away with it almost every time 🤷♀️
