If I asked a friend to move in with me I would not charge her rent. I might say, "oh pick up some groceries now and then or you're in charge of buying wine for a month" so they feel like they are gifting for my generosity. A really kind man would say, "I've got you during your studies, you don't have to worry about anything.... keep your money it's no good here, get a good grade and that will make me happy for you." The only somewhat ok situation I've heard of was when a woman married a guy with a house, so the same amount he was paying for mortgage they would put away in her account towards vacations and downpayment for a next house that would be purchased during marriage and she would be on the title. I still don't consider it a good situation for that married woman. This girl though, WHY!?! Stay in your cheap rent apartment and look for HVM!

I think that in situations like this, it’s probably fairer to look at the rent values for the home and split that in half, so ultimately they’d be paying less than living alone, most likely.
Yeah that's what I did with my ex. I charged him half my mortgage payment in rent, all while still doing the majority of cooking and cleaning. I think he got a pretty sweet deal lol. Especially considering he got to share an entire house with me for the price he'd be paying for a studio in an area with high crime rate.
Regardless how you calculate a rate, men benefit from living with women whereas it is a liability for a woman even before any financial matters are considered.
