It’s a trend, ladies. This is the third guy who’s causally, on a date, brought up how “stupid” and “wasteful” an expensive purse is, how he just doesn’t get it. I never ask. And I do carry a nice purse, granted it’s not like LV with the brand signature all over it. I prefer a solid colored leather purse with the brand printed very small, if it’s visible at all. So, did he think it wasn’t designer and was trying to impress me with “perceived” shared values? Or did he know it was designer and was negging me?My head hurts trying to make sense of it 🤦♀️

It's not just classic "girly" things like purses, jewellery, make up or clothes they have a problem with. It's pretty much everything they don't consider "worthy". I used to get comments all the time about money I spend on my pets, for example.
$500 for a gaming console? $2000 for a computer? Thousands for fancy rims and other useless car stuff? Totally reasonable expenses to them. But spend that much on a vet bill, an aviary or a high quality cat tree that lasts instead of the crap you get for cheap... you know... stuff that improves the quality of life of living breathing creatures completely at our mercy... and they go completely crazy.
