Just wanted to vent because I'm so sick of the back and forth of emails because of scrotes ego and not reading emails and then putting you down.
I hate software engineers and their damn ego. I'm also a SWE and even though I love what I do, I hate interacting with these scrotes that put you down.
I literally asked a question and provided all the info+logs and this scrote askes me for the full logs again and so I attach the entire log file and tell him where to look and he still looks at it wrong and tells me something I already knew but says it in such a condescending way. I had to point out to him that he's wrong and AGAIN do more labour for this scrote who doesn't know how to read a goddamn email.
Why do they do this why are they so useless and the most useless ones are the ones most loved by others. I couldn't go off on this scrote because my manager loves him. And I'm just so angry now.
I won't leave this field because I like the actual work and I want to earn more money but scrotes like him are everywhere and I am so angry all the time!!
Men with an inflated ego and low attention to detail are in every field 😒 So don’t leave an otherwise stable and high-paid career over this issue. Try to take solace that you are in the right and you’re great at your job. Men in particular struggle to read and follow instructions, because they lean on their assumptions that they already understand everything and are superior. It takes humility and patience to take in information from others, which are widespread male deficits.
a male engineer i know was just crying that there aren't many female engineers. now we know why...i'm angry for you!
It's a constant thing working with men. If I had the clientele to do it, I would only work for and with women. Men are simply entitled idiots 99 percent of the time.
Make sure to cc (or bcc) your boss whenever you have to repeat yourself or point out that he’s wrong. That will keep him from being able to shift the blame for him not understanding onto you (a lesson I learned the hard way when I worked as a server admin).
I just started my path to becoming a software engineer and am already dreading this kind of thing because I know it’s a very male-dominated field, and according to my brother (very successful, almost 7-figure SWE), most of them don’t know what they’re doing. 😂
I think women have an added challenge that’s also a secret benefit in that we know we have to work extra hard to prove ourselves in fields like this. It makes us take our jobs much more seriously. I’m glad you’re doing something you love and that you aren’t letting them ruin it for you! We definitely need more women in tech!
Yup, I know how you feel. Recently, my work PC’s data have stoped working so I asked my manager if there is any limit on the data. He replied that “not that I know of”. He had his IT team reboot my PC and reinstall VPN, but up to no avail. Couple of days of back and forth and I finally decide to connect the device to another data source. Lo and behold, it works. So I ask him again, “are you absolutely sure there is no data limit?” for him to reply “I will check with IT again”. Fast forward to today, and guess what. It *was* the data limit on the company’s device. I mean, only if he had listened to me at the beginning, we could have saved this back and forth and quite frankly, a waste of time. Why are men so incompetent and don’t listen to us, women? 🙄🤦🏻♀️
