He thinks women have more job opportunity sometimes? (I told him men dominate many fields, like STEM - and he said that that's the only field he thinks he's heard women have it hard in. Which we all know isn't true...) He also questioned the wage gap being real because he says women make more than men now on average in America.
Also had to say again that women get more college degrees than men now in the modern world. I said well maybe because women work harder in general. If we are ahead somewhere, it's kudos to us because we should have been able to be even further ahead had men not oppressed women for many generations. I did also point out I'm pretty sure the wage gap is still a thing????
He was whining about how mostly women get server jobs in restaraunts and how when he tried to apply for the us postal service, he was denied since he never signed up for the draft and was over 27. I understood he was mad that the draft isn't a requirement for females, but I pointed out that women also deal with a lot of bs that men don't have to deal with. We face sexism in a lot / if not all fields. He said that's true, but he's just talking from his personal experience as a male who didn't want to go to college and thinks the jobs that men do dominate in more involve "backbreaking" labor (I'm guessing he's talking physical?) and higher education. He's mad that the jobs he was actively trying for, like in restaraunts or the postal service - that he thinks being a woman would have benefited him more?
Kind of made it sound like women have it better vocationally since I guess we get more server jobs and can join the postal service without the draft???? I didn't entertain the convo more because I felt like he was just adamant to say men have it hard.
When I tried to point out that women doing well in school doesn't mean it was ever built for us considering men kept us from learning until modern times - he said it's just that he thinks men in the education system also didn't really design it for men, even though he acknowledges that women were prohibited from it for a long time??? Just felt constantly contradictive at times. Like he wanted to say he knows women have it harder, but had to say men do otherwise too.
Said he wasn't trying to dismerit women's struggles, but only brought up that women do better in college as just a fact and said the wage gap has been disproven (but he's also heard it's been proven from other people and admits he doesn't really know). I just don't get why men talk about gender as if they know if they don't? This is not a man I'm dating any more.
Just a frustrating convo I remembered from a date some time ago who I never saw again. And wanted some educated FDS opinions or comebacks to his claims. I'd like more articles to be more literate on the wage gap and how women outperforming men in school or making more money on average does not mean women have it easier than men.
I don’t debate with flat Earthers or those that deny the existence of systematic racism or the patriarchy.
Ahaha he's infuriating I'm sorry queen.
Men don't debate fairly or with logic. They don't care about facts. So you are in your full right to only give him stupid counter arguments.
"Why don't you become a woman?"
"But women have it better so why not"
"Think of all the job benefits"
"Anyone can be a woman"
"You can even keep your 🐛"
Whenever they say women have it easier because they can always sell their bodies:
"You can sell your body too, men will pay for you"
"Its ok not to be attracted to the old men paying for you, neither are the 20yo prostitutes"
"Literally nothing is stopping you, old men will pay you sooo much"
"Why don't you want to do it? Isn't it easy?"
It's funnier. Save your facts for pointing out the truth to women!
His "women are making more money now so there's no more wage gap" thinking is fallacious. It conveniently leaves out the amount of work these women are doing.
We have to consider who tends to get paid more for the same amount of work. The men? Or the women?
Who is still generally expected to do more unpaid labour? The men? Or the women?
So women have an advantage in getting some jobs. So what? Fields dominated by women tend to be hard work for not enough pay, nor enough respect. Being a server or a postal worker is not some cushy job.
It’s sad because I feel like all women know a guy (not necessarily is friends with) who thinks he “means well” , but sounds as mra as this
Grrrr- I'm so mad women aren't forced to fight in wars that men started, *growl*!
Don't you know that men fought in wars to secure rights that.... OTHER men were trying to take away!?!
Women should be grateful or shouldn't have rights at allllll because they won't clean up the mess men created when women literally had no say. GRRRRR!
Now whose fault is that?
By this way of thinking, all the successful women should vacate our positions immediately for men to feel they had a good day about their pe-pe. Then what next, we still will be leagues ahead in our attitude and climb back to achieve back those positions. Oh wait that's just history on repeat.
He is a patriarchy by product who refuses to course correct and nothing more.
did you tell him this is just the beginning of the wealth gap closing between men and women?
that reparations for the trillions of dollars worth of free labor women have performed over the years are being collected now and the Y-chromosome is too debilitatingly mutated to to stop it?
what i would have said. 💅🏼
if he made a choice not to go to college, why is he crying?
and is gestation and childbirth not backbreaking physical labor in its own rite?
what a whining manchild.
