Choosing to offer a date Applebee's is indicative of a lot of things and none of them good, like a lack of imagination or resourcefulness. "Oh I'm broke, so I have to pick the worst Fast Food with Extra Steps joint". There are a million things a man could do if cost or some other circumstances keep them away from a more obviously expensive/fancy place. At the very least a little local or "ethnic" restaurant because they OFTEN cost as much as Crapplebees, a picnic in a busy (safety😬) but pleasant park; what you can't make up in cash make up for it with something novel and interesting. Also, he lacks taste imo. But I suppose that's the point, this woman values those things and the man does not.

At first I couldnt believe that the reddit poster was on his side until I remembered that its reddit. The argument that he might be rich is so funny because that would be way worse. If a guy is broke and he cant afford more than Applebee's and he is honest about that, I might even say yes. A HVM is not the richest, its about his relationship with money. But a man who is rich who STILL takes you out on a date to go to APPLEBEE'S??? That's just plain insulting.

I've hated Applebee's since it first came out when I was 17 years old. It's trash food, and I wouldn't even eat there as a poor teenager in the 90s. You're certainly not taking me there on a date. F*ck you.
