A lot of it is due to porn, beauty standards (hairless like a baby, small nose, big eyes, short...sounds like a child), romanticizing every detail about inexperienced girls on the brink of adulthood....or even adolescence sometimes, purity culture, calling women past 23 spinsters because late 30s/early 40s would rather be with 21 or less, adultification & parentification of female children (acting like an adult to care for younger kids is a form of trauma), infantilization of adult men in a society with extreme restrictions on girl & women that also forgives men for everything so they desire a power dynamic. And also who gets to be "seen". Men of all ages would get to be seen, to be protagonist, women didn't exist past age 25, women would play the mothers of men who are the same age or older. The male actor, no matter how old or ugly, always got paired with women that could pass for teenagers. There are more shows about the sex lives of teenagers than about the sex lives of working adults (skins, euphoria, pretty little liars, gossip girl, Riverdale, 13 reasons why). Usually played by and watched by much older people because there is no life after highschool and college duh. Men go after teenagers because they want to be young like peter pan forever. That's part of the projection, the shadow. I'm too tired to expand on the rest of the fuckery in their head. Women usually only desire older men because women value knowledge, maturing, getting wiser, gaining from someone knowing more than them, learning everything about life, experiences that change you for the better, deep & complex conversations. Women's desire is to get better and more mature and to understand life. It's hilarious that this is only returned with pure superficiality and control and abuse of power by these same older men that only think smart ideas are smart when they leave a man's mouth, not a woman's (hence, "mansplaining"). Basically if they were really as wise and understanding of life as we hoped they were so we could learn from them, they would be attracted to maturity, wisdom and experience just like we are!...in other words. Unfortunately, a lot of women had to learn is that the best way to grow wiser and not to skip life stages. An adult that would date someone is half their age is not an adult she should role model. These men don't value you for the same reason women value men. No matter how young you started dating them, they always think you were hotter 10 years ago when they first eyed you, or they will always think you peaked at 20. I always hated age gap relationships because I could feel that that person who would want that with me would never find me that beautiful at 30 or 40, like it's a disrespect to the feminine. If he respected, loved and valued the feminine (remember that the word feminine is often synonymous with looking childlike. The more childlike girl would get called feminine, to the point it's normal to practice your best little girl voice because you're....girly!), he would be attracted to women his age mostly, and want to date and connect with mostly women his age. That is what would make me feel, beautiful, appreciated and whole at 40. Atleast if you date men who only naturally date women their own age, you know they have less pedo tendencies. Bottom line I have never been attracted to older people except as mentors or to have deep conversations with as a friend or someone that is a child in their eyes. Since I was 9, I had this gut feeling and strongly felt that the limit is 4 years and everything else is icky. Now, I prefer 2 years older max, but I would also date 1 year younger. I am most attracted to maturity and sense of responsibility in guys my age. It tells me they were raised right. I believe men that are immature at 21 (still 12 at 21) are still immature at 50 and those are the ones that use weaponized incompetence without ever growing up and you can only abandon them not fix them. It's because they were emotionally stunted at a young and they never wanted to change that.
