This is being touted as a couple who was "fated to be together" and "true love never dies" and "cosmically gorgeous" and it's such nonsense!
He rejected her; they went on and lived full lives without each other; now that he's widowed, he CAN'T BE ALONE (typical) and so he finds her and sends a friend request. She rejects it (yay) but then he keeps pursuing her and finally wears her down (dammit). Now they've decided to tie the knot.
He proposed 60 years ago, then broke her heart. Now they've finally married : NPR
I'm just so much angrier about this than I probably should be. It's the media pushing garbage like this that makes vulnerable woman think that they should lower the bar in the name of Romance. I was one of those women once, pre-FDS, so I know!!
Of course he and most men can't be alone when widowed....after all who else is going to cook for them and look after the house? Nope...not them 🙄🙄🙄
I'm so glad someone posted this here! I read the story the other day and was so annoyed that the media was pushing this as "fated love" and other such BS! Men will never understand that sometimes we just want to be left the F alone...even when we're old!

He says "A little bit of the same on my part" which you know is probably not true. He admits he "shouldn't have been looking for something else in my life" but he "felt he had to find this lady." Reading between the lines, yeah, he can't live alone.

I hate stories like this that push the idea this is romantic. It's desperation on his part
Women like that are the reason why older men who have hit the wall still have a partner. They can sleep with several women, being used up and washed up but women still accept them back. if a man doesn't want you now he doesn't want you in the future either. They just want to have you because they are either lonely or the women they want to have moved on, Men want to excercise their options and trade you for something better in their prime but want you as their caregivers when they hit the wall or see you as a way out of the old folks home.

What exactly are we to learn here? My favourite being block and delete. Do a basic housekeeping asap otherwise they will come back sooner rather than latter. Who is actually consuming this kind of stuff?
