I‘ve noticed this as well.
Most men can self-actualize only when they are working and making money. Many men have told me something along the lines of ”when a man is not working, he is not happy”.
Most men of working age need to work, period. And when they don’t/can’t work for long periods of time, they can‘t even respect themselves.
I think everyone is like that to an extent. Everyone needs responsibility or they become entitled, childish and lack purpose. I think men need it more than other groups though because society coddled them.
i haven't seen it work well when the man is the provider either. i'm not saying they should never be the provider, i'm just saying that it can backfire as well. in the end it depends on the person's character more than anything. problem is, males usually have a faulty character. Men as providers works really well if they are HV. Doesn't work at all if they are LV - in this case, they'll use it as a form of control.

The reason why modern males are not providing is because the nature of males is to not provide. Just look at a lions pride. It is the female who hunts for food, not the male. Laws had to be created, and resources had to be taken away from females, in order to FORCE the male to provide. But now that patriarchy is being slowly dismantled, and females are getting their resources back, males are, too, going back to their natural state, which is to be a nonprovider.
The price of civilization is for men to give up some of their animalistic tendencie.

Some men can and have risen above their animalistic nature. But the vast majority have not and cannot. This is why we females have been under attack more often than ever before, because we are locking up our vaginas, and taking care of ourselves now that resources are not being taken away from us. I mean, women were not allowed to get credit till 1974!
