Ghosted a guy, to feel bad or not to?

I’m probably an asshole but I ghosted a guy for being a depressed downer. First he was complaining that he had to work a lot and he’s disabled. I replied “aw ok that’s sad” Then he complained about being bored and lonely. Just why do men think that’s ok to say? They just sound desperate asl and yes I’m selfish, but it sounds like I’m their last option and they’re talking to me because they have no one else. It really set me off. Does anyone else think this way?
