As someone who was involved with someone who had violent/pushy tendencies with sex, I would just like to add that the women going back are literally gaslit into thinking this is the societal norm. I barely knew anything going into this interaction and discussing some of the details later with friends supported the idea that I was “adventurous” and somehow “empowering.” It didnt help that my partner was vastly more experienced than me and used that fact to frequently admonish my hesitation. I began to realize that there is so little support for people in these situations that they try to make it something normal to themselves as well or feel unearned guilt when realizing how not consensual the situation really is because everyone around them tells them it was their choice.
