I hate when I'm too overwhelmed or tired in the moment to confront scrotey behavior.
I performed on a comedy show tonight. I was extremely tired and ready to go by the end of the show. So of course that's when an old entitled scrote approached me just as I was leaving. He was using a walker so I was inclined to be respectful due to his age and mobility issues.
He complimented my set then immediately made a dumb attempt at a pick up line. He then laughed at himself and put his hand on my waist just above my ass.
I was so surprised I just immediately inched away from him, made a polite excuse to leave the convo and left without saying goodnight to my friends at the show.
The. Audacity. Knows. No. Bounds.
I'm mad I didn't say anything to him but I also didn't have the energy to deal with scrote drama.
I swear old scrotes have a radar detector for when women are exhausted and that's when they jump on the opportunity to be gross.
You handled this the best you could considering you were tired. Please go easy on yourself and remember, you are not the problem, that scrote is the problem. As a friend of mine once said, "men ruin everything." Until men get carceral consequences for their shitty behavior, our events are at constant risk.
So sorry you went through this. Something similar happened to me a couple years ago. My neighbor's wife died just before Christmas. He was in his 90s. I thought it would be nice to invite him to spend Christmas dinner with me and my boys. He'd always been perfectly respectful. But the moment he came over, I could tell he'd clearly gotten the wrong message. He leered at me the entire dinner- he was practically drooling right in front of the kids. It was really awkward getting him to leave- I think he thought he was sleeping over! (He was about 95, I was 37). I practically kicked him out the door, and he tried to kiss me and asked me if he could take me out some time. Then, of course, he acted scrotey when I said I wasn't interested. Ugh, the audacity!
This!
They wait until your guard is down and slither their way in.
So gross that he touched you!
Yea its sad but ive gotten so much more short with old/creepy men over time. If I can tell he is leering at me then comes up for a conversation I say ”nope” and walk away if I can, or just ignore if I can’t get away immediately. I’ve been called rude and all kinds of names.
people don’t seem to generally understand that I feel trapped when a man im not interested in tries to corner me into a conversation and make me uncomfortable. i don’t owe anyone anything when I’m just trying to exist or do my job in a public place. You don’t either! Nobody does!
I always tell women that when a man sees a woman outside of her home, she is seen as a prostitute and fair game in his eyes. It is so disgusting and enraging. And sad... What're we supposed to do? Just stay indoors for the rest of our lives?
You see this on the ranch with horses who have been desexxed called geldings. Geldings who think that they're a stallion are called "proud cuts". You're not a stallion, you're not a breeding stud - you're a gelding. Know your place. On the ranch they're treated firmly and must receive training, oftentimes remaining separate from the mares until they get the message.
