It’s why men are so fixated on what other men think of them. As some ladies have said, a lot of men are pickmes too - they’re pickmes for other men. Men will date women because they feel other men will be impressed that they could get such women. Men will make fun of women so that they look big and tough to other men.
Yup. My ex completely worshipped the ground his "cool" male coworker walked on. He completely changed when they started working together. It was infuriating and pathetic.
I feel like the case is different for men. It's not like they want other men to pick them as romantic partners (unless if they are attracted to other men). Many do however want to one up on other men. This is why so many men are obsessed with going to the gym and having a trophy SO.

As women we can use this as a superpower. Find a man and convince him to say things, or just ask him to say certain things or mention things to another man (for your own benefit). It works so well.
