I want to share this tweet, it’s not mine, it was from a Spanish feminist twitter account that was, o surprise, suspended.
“All men benefit from the actions of violent men. It keeps us women under control, allows men to perform the minimum effort and still feel good about themselves. The existence of violent men grants recognition to "good" men just for showing basic decency”
To read this made me reconsider what it means to be a hvm, because a life time of scrotes made me overestimate the minimum effort since “at least he is trying“
Socrates once said "human being isn't a birth right, it's a title one earns by being humane". Most men aren't human beings. As John Stuart Mills pointed out: they are pigs at a trough, meeting their base needs, without the brains or virtue to rather be a dissatisfied Socrates. You show me a man that doesn't care to be a leader in his community, who refuses to help the less fortunate among him, and I'll show you a pig. Being an adult means moving from the bucket to the spigot. You stop needing to fill yourself at the expense of others and begin shepherding those in need. ALL normal high value adults do this on some level. Avoid like the freaking plague any male who lacks this basic adult desire to be humane.
Yeah imagine praising a man for not physically/verbally/emotionally abusing you. We forget that our partners are supposed to love and cherish us and instead give them gold stars for meeting the bare (often times, legal) minimum.
Key word : least. That’s the least they could do.
