Last night I went to a Halloween party at a popular venue in a major US city. To my horror, all the bathrooms were labeled as all-gender. And these are not single bathrooms. They were the kind with 10 stalls inside.
I walk in and there are those weird, swing-open doors (think classic cowboy movies, those swinging wooden doors that only take up half the door frame) that sections off the urinals for men. I can clearly see men peeing the second I walk in. The other half of the room are closed stalls.
In the US, we're all aware of the cheapy stalls with giant gaps on the doors where you can see if someone is in a stall. Gross and creepy, yes, we all know. Thankfully these were fixed with what looked like some sort of DIY method to cover the gaps. It was clearly a fixture that was not a part of the original design. They PROBABLY did this KNOWING THAT MEN WOULD CREEP ON WOMEN!!!
When I (finally!) exit my stall, I am not exagerratingng when I say there were probably 8-10 men in that room and I was the only woman. I rushed straight past those men and darted right out the door. I even had to look behind me to make sure I didn't accidentally enter a men's bathroom— nope, all gender. The bathroom was full of men.
Oh my god. I'm never going to that venue again. Thank god I rarely see any fun events there anyway. I'm crossing this venue off my list and never going back.

Knowing how everything we do is sexualized by men and the feeling that they know you are on the other side of a thin wall with your pants down is so creepy and right on theme for halloween. I could never relax especially knowing men can have a pee fetish like R kelly and theres a whole porn category for it that you might end up on. You can thank these entiled male transvestites for taking away a basic dignity and safety measure for women.
Complain about it. Get them shut down. You had to see myriad penises against your will.
Gender neutral bathrooms are such a violation to women. This was created in the first place to protect women and now it's being dismantled. ALL female safe spaces are being dismantled. I don't care if it's a single stall, all gender. But multiple stalls is an invitation for sexual assault. It's already happening where men are filming women using the bathroom by putting cameras under the stalls..
Omg I can’t stand this shit. I got into an argument with someone about this and she told me my fear was “irrational”— the fuck it isn’t. It’s completely rational NOT to want to share a bathroom with men.
Being alone with a man/multiple men in a confined space and having your pants down puts you in a vulnerable position that could go very wrong wrong. All it takes is one deranged fuck and your life is ruined.
The only “gender neutral” washrooms I’m in favour of are those handicap ones that are one room, with a single door where the sink and toilet are included.
I have nightmares about lack of privacy in toilets. If they insist on this stuff, they’ll push women into staying home.
Some people will say it's just like sharing a bathroom with family members or roommates of the opposite gender.
Yeah... because sharing a bathroom that locks completely with a handful of people I know and trust in my own home....
... is totally the same as being in the same room with potentially drunk or high male strangers (it's a party, right?) with your pants down with nothing but a flimsy stall door to protect you. Oh right, and the stall will have gaps at the top and bottom (and the sides of the door if you are unlucky). And you will have to pass several men with their dicks out at the urinals on your way in.
Totally the same as sharing the bathroom at home with your dad, brother or son, right?
All-gender bathrooms because men and women are totally equal and men never want to hurt women WOOOOOOOO 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Yikes. I suspected that there would come a day when these kinds of bathrooms would be a thing, but it's a special kind of horror to see a first-hand anecdote of it. There's a darned good reason why these kinds of bathrooms were not allowed in our society. I hope this doesn't become not only the norm, but a replacement for gender-segregated bathrooms. 😶
And there's always piss on the floor. It's infuriating!
More reasons to hate the rainbow mafia. They are the reasons why these frankenstein tranvestites are prioritized over real women aka biological female.
