Thank you for the Mormonism deep dive, but I only intended to link in the pro-choice thread.

Mormons will not baptize you if you've had an abortion before. It's actually in the interview for the baptism for new converts. I found Mormonism to be absolutely stifling. I was reached Catholic, and I'm loosely Christian now. But Mormonism is a performance-based religion. They have temples where they do rituals on behalf of the deceased. Baptisms, sealings aka marriage, and if you get married in the temple but your family is deemed unworthy because they drink coffee or had an abortion or are gay or don't pay 10% of their income as tithing, they do not get a temple recommend and therefore cannot enter the temple. I know this because they recruited me and I joined for about 3 months last summer. I did a total deep dive and it's very much different than traditional Christianity. Traditional Christianity just has the church buildings, that's it. Catholics have their big cathedrals but anybody can go into a cathedral. Mormons are specific because they have temples. I thought the temple would be full of beautiful stained glass with people praying, but it was very corporate, very ritual, very creepy. When I did a baptism for my dead relatives, which is already just creepy sounding by nature, they did the confirmations by proxy afterward which is where they lay their hands on your head and they say "I confirm you a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints". They literally claim to have the one true restored gospel, claiming that there was a total apostasy after Jesus died, Rose and ascended. They literally claim that for 1800 years God intentionally took his presence away from the earth because we were sinful. That totally negates the entire point of Christianity which is that Christ came because we were sinful and he came to save us. At least that is the Christian story. Plus it is not biblical at all, the Bible says Christ will never leave us, God will never leave us. They break up the Trinity into three totally separate personages that appeared to Joseph smith, a 14-year-old boy in the early 1800s.Mormons will often argue these tiny little doctrinal things, whipping out Bible verses because they claim to believe in the Bible except for the fact they believe it was mistranslated and that the book of Mormon and the doctrine and covenants are the most true books on Earth. But the worst part of all is that they claim to have the restored Church of Jesus christ, meaning that they have prophets on the Earth today. Profits for over a hundred years from the inception of Mormon church have been saying through 1978 that black people were unworthy to hold the priesthood or enter the temple. Keep in mind if you don't enter the temple and perform sacred rituals and ordinances, you literally don't go to VIP heaven which is what they call the celestial kingdom. So Mormons are always talking about how family-friendly they are, but if you don't perform well enough or just so happen to be black or gay in between 1820 and 1978, or even current day gays, they literally say that you will not be in the celestial Kingdom which is where heavenly Father allegedly is with your whole entire family, assuming they also performed well enough and perfectly enough to be in that VIP heaven tier. The prophet said for a long long time that it was because of Cain and Abel that God put a curse and that curse was a skin of blackness. Mormons also believe that there was a war in heaven, between Satan and god, although they don't call it God they call it heavenly father because again they believe in three separate beings, heavenly father, Jesus Christ and holy spirit. 1/3 of the spirit children chose Satan's side and those are black people, they literally taught that people who chose Satan in the war in heaven came down with a skin of blackness. They also taught that the more holy you become through the church the more white and delightsome you will become. Those are their words from their books and their Prophets. They also believe that God did not create you at the time of conception, they believe that if a Mormon couple performs their sacred ordinances within the temple, of course donating 10% of their income and not drinking coffee, they will be together in the celestial Kingdom in the afterlife. The reason I bring that up is because after you break up the trinity, you allow the concept of a glorified body which they believe heavenly Father and Jesus Christ both have. And so they believe that when you do your sacred ordinances, your body will be a heavenly glorified body and you will be able to have sex with your spouse in heaven creating what they call Spirit children. These Spirit children wait for a body to be created on the Earth to inhabit. This is why Mormons practice polygamy for a very long time, and it's why they have so many kids. They literally believe that these Spirit children are floating around in the pre-existence waiting for bodies, and that Mormon men who performed perfectly, get married and die with their perfect wife will essentially be like god. They claim that you'll have a glorified body much like him and they believe in something called eternal progression so it really is true and they say Mormons believe they can have their own planets and be their own gods one day. And if the first wife passes away and he gets remarried, they believe that both wives will be in the afterlife so polygamy in heaven creating infinite numbers of spirit children. Okay I hate how much that I was brainwashed but I was extremely vulnerable after the lockdowns. I just wanted to share how absolutely horrendous that religion is. It could be argued that Christianity as a whole is ridiculous, but at least traditional Christianity doesn't create tiers of heaven and have false prophets that say blacks are too sus to get into heaven and that a woman's main purpose is to be a breeding stock to bring forth these waiting spirit children. Every single woman I met in Mormonism has anxiety and depression, and it's because Mormonism is a faith based on performance, performing well enough to please your heavenly father to get to the top tier of heaven. Unlike traditional Christianity which recognizes that we are all imperfect sinners and there's nothing you can ever do to be perfect besides love God and try your best.
I’m glad you wrote this out. I’ve known a couple of Mormons and have always been really confused about what they believe. I’m technically Catholic but haven’t ever really practiced it (not confirmed etc) nor do I support their views on birth control and abortion etc. But, I just couldn’t get my head around the Mormon church. This helped explain it. I tried to ask one of them once if it’s just coffee or teas too since it was ‘hot drink’ and I didn’t get a straight answer. 🤷♀️
I know right?! I was always so bummed about how it was hard for me to get verified on Reddit because all I wanted was to post life essentials like this.
She has explained it so clearly and it is common sense but it is never talked about and therefore young people cannot remind each other that the man is responsible for the pregnancy, and the consequence is that this extends further into adulthood. I think youngsters should be given sex education partly in elementary school and when they hit puberty in high school about consent, their responsibility and that ejaculation and pregnancy are definitely not dissociable. Learning should be fun and prepare people for life and sex is part of that and shouldn't be ignored.

This is some gold level stuff. So clear, so concise.

Women are shamed into sucking up the pain and downplaying its severity.
I love the part about the pill for men being pulled because of side effects. When the side effects for women are brutal. I just can’t. 🤬
