I can’t believe it. After joining in the OLD scene on April 2020 due to Covid, on July 2021 I decided to delete all OLD platforms. It’s been four years!
I must admit, at times, I want to go back to the apps, but I remember that I’d be breaking my streak.
Dating apps do not benefit women looking for a relationship. Dating apps benefit men looking for a quick fuck. Dating apps benefit shareholders financially.
Good for you @Apple! You’re not missing anything except stress.
Sometime last year. You couldn't pay me to get back on them.
I think your chances of finding a single HVM are as good/bad IRL as on OLD.
The fact is the proportion of HVM is tiny in pretty much any random population. Either way, you’ll have to sift through a lot of trash.
I think, in 2025, it doesn’t make much of a difference whether you’re on the apps or not.
I haven’t been on since 2020… when I made a Hinge account, talked to two people, and immediately realized that I didn’t want to meet up with new people during the pandemic so I didn’t know what I was doing on an app full of guys who wanted to meet up right away.
Before that, I think I was last on the apps in 2015? I met a couple people on there, they both wanted to go out on a cheap date right away (minimal planning, didn’t pay for my cover charge or drinks), and then tried to go home with me, which I refused of course. After that I’ve just met guys through mutuals, which is hit or miss depending on the mutuals and their own standards.
