End of an era. I wonder if the attack on her husband pushed her into this decision. The party has needed new blood for awhile.
People are voicing their gratitude for her leadership on twitter:

About time. She's done great things, I think retiring rather than dying while in office is a good example for all government officials. Tbh I hope Biden comes to the same decision and doesn't run for reelection. It's hard to emphasize how important the peaceable exchange of power is in the states- and I think by retiring instead of running for reelection it serves the state better and holds to the integrity of the exchange of power more than election results. Bc the problem w 99.999999% of politicians is they don't relinquish their power- they don't step down. George Washington was a bona fide 1 in a trillion class act and I'm so PLEASED that our first example of this in the 21st century is a woman who could easily win if she ran- but chooses to bow out w grace.
As great as she was, we definitely need someone new.

At 82, Nancy Pelosi is the most consequential Speaker in US history. 18 terms!! Tip O’Neil ( another great Speaker) never got the level of harassment and disrespect from the GOP like Nancy does. She drives those bastards insane by wielding her power and grace. Die mad, scrotes; Speaker Pelosi will be in the history books, but, you won't!!
Her husband's a drunk scrote. That doesn't mean he deserved to get beaten up, but it does mean he has issues. I wouldn't necessarily blame the other party for her resigning. Maybe it's because she married a loser?
