This caught my attention as well. The problem with information warfare is men own most of the powerhouses that control what information gets seen. Why because men have always owned the system and are willing to pour money into suppressing women's complaints. Women lack the capital to combat this with the same sort of economic and technological dominance. A few decades of faux equality doesn't erase centuries of disenfranchisement.

@Silver Moon Plus there is a certain subsect of men who are glad to throw their lives away for the cause (incels, NEETS). Women are more likely (like I think one of the hosts said) to be productive and useful with their time.

I don't know what this would look like, but we've got to find a way to be creative and effective with the power we do have.

I understand how devastated you feel. Part of the problem is that our culture is so anti-woman, even in covert and insidious ways. It's really hard to combat it.

The good news is that it's not too late. Girls and women are waking up to misogyny all the time.

I think Gail Dines described the best approach - to point out misogyny in every day life, but not just to lecture, but ask questions. Why did he do that? Is that fair? Why is she in that position and he is in something more like a power position (for a sexist, objectifying ad)? Would a man be treated that way? and so on.

Also, be sure you are not only modeling good boundaries, but explaining to them why you are setting a boundary. (not saying you aren't doing this but just in case)

I also wanted to say that I agree with you about JD's appeal. I saw the headline of some article about two attractive celebrities, and my first thought was "who could possibly think Depp is attractive?" There are plenty of older men who are attractive, but he is *not* one of them.

@FoxInFall I am a little older than Winona and younger than JD. When he started to get a lot of attention for being a hot young star in his 20's, I looked and didn't see the appeal. I liked some of his films but not all of them. He always gave me the creeps. Then later word about his drug & alcohol-fueled behavior came out, relationship problems etc and I just tuned him out. He was on a list of yuck to me. So when many years later my teenage daughter admits she is crushing on him because of the Pirates thing, I was even more grossed out. I enjoyed him in that role. But being entertained is not the same. It feels like I'm the oddball. I'm not innocent of having crushes on problematic men. I've had some. Just JD has never been one of them. So I never gave him the benefit of a doubt and as soon as I heard he was accused of abuse I believed it because most accusations of male violence are true.

Easy on the “as an educated woman” Im not sure why it takes a formal education to recognize that someone who says they want to burn their fiancé, and have sex with her dead corpse is an abuser. Or someone who describes her as a receptacle for sperm. The way Johnny talks about women shows his mindset, he’s an abuser and That’s what the defamation was for - abuse. Also he was unarmed and the damages for Pirates were ridiculous. it’s a matter of the jury being unable To grasp the legal subjects. Anyway I guess your education didn’t teach you much about law because the court case wasn’t about whether or not Amber was a compulsive liar, so your point has nothing to do with the case or whether the jury did their job. You actually proved my point why regular citizens these days just can’t grasp law or the issues at hand and are too swayed by their emotions and what they see on social. So thank you.
