One thing I thought was really interesting about this particular episode is the way she talked about how the process of being indoctrinated into the sex trade is like an abusive relationship. I would argue that most women’s experience in patriarchy is also like an abusive relationship. The grooming. Starts in our childhood, where we are told. That if we are good enough, women, we will earn a good man. When we have our first negative experiences with being sexualized and dehumanized, we are told that it’s something we did, or that this is just part of the deal. I think it would be interesting to examine this from a psychological perspective in trying to understand women’s relationship with patriarchal society as a form of abusive relationship, in which women are the victims of an abusive system, which operates the same way as an abusive partner would. This is also why so many women are resistant to the truth of patriarchy, because they have learned that the only way they can function and survive is to live in this state of perpetual cognitive dissonance, where they repeatedly lie to themselves about how they are and conbuting to their own oppression.
apologies for the grammatical and spelling errors. For some reason I cannot go back and edit.
.
This was hard to listen to. The amount of trauma we all have to endure is so fucking sad and infuriating. I love FDS for talking openly about this. For telling the truth. Changing the world. Making it better. Making us feel less alone. For all of us.
I love this woman! I too would like to ride on a mans back and call him a pig lmao
Love this episode! Hilarious. All the best to Roxie and her recovery ❤️
This episode really sank in and sat with me all week. It was triggering for sure, but she shed light on so many truths ab the porn industry.
So many aspects of her story were relatable. I hope she knows how appreciated her honest perspective is, not only educational but deeply validating to those silently living and healing in the aftermath too. I also hope her journey with therapy treats her with kindness and that she finds the healing she needs.
