It's become a major issue - almost all of my customers are women because my small business is catered towards women. I sell things and have a no return, no cancelation, all sales are final policy - which is common for most consignment boutiques. So much clothes are higher end and gently used but I also have a mix of brand new accessories and jewelry.
Lately there's so many pickmes that are acting so obnoxious and entitled and are trying to have me bend the rules for them- and even destroying items lying then that the items were ruined - in an attempt to return the items. Items come back in covered in stains, deordorant, and smelling awful - it's apparent that they wore the item for a night out and now it's in an awful state. I don't accept returns and they'll accuse me of selling it like that to them.
Additionally I had a sale bin where items were clearly marked as clearance - if you fill a bag of the clearance items up it's only $20. They'll come in, we will explain the sale and no return policy to them - and they still try to shove nonclearance items into the bag and go ballistic when I say "only the items marked as clearance from that bin are eligible for the sale, you have full price items in here".
I do most of my business online and it's just as bad. I'm planning on closing the physical store when the lease ends and selling off what's left online.
These women act like scrotes of my past and scrotes I knew of! They call me names, yell at me, say that I am rude because I won't take the return, and have harassed me. The things they say are word for word the same things that scrotes would say. They gaslight me too! All the time and constantly play the victim -all despite the policy clearly being told to them online and in person before we made the sale. They have attempted to get in my face a few times and I've had to call the security guard that makes rounds at the Plaza- and they'll finally leave when they see him step inside.
The entitlement is absurd and honestly it makes me sad to see so many pickmes internalizing the misogyny so much to the point where they are trying to copycat the scrotes.
Granted my problem customers are under 5% of all my customers but they have gotten so bad recently that I have called security in a few times and walk my employees to their cars. I can't have a physical store anymore.
If you have seen the videos online of beauty stores being destroyed it's a similar thing. I don't sell makeup and won't because I know they'd pig it up, steal it, and make a mess.
I wish that women were taught to stop accepting scrote behavior and that mimicking it is not the answer. I wish we were taught financial literacy, responsibility, tact and class in the way we speak and carry ourselves, and accountability for our own actions. So many big businesses accept any and all returns they don't care if you've had it for 6 months, used it up, or if it's sticky and hairy - you'll get a refund with no questions asked. Small businesses quite frankly shouldn't have to endure the same scamming customers and the abuse of policy.
More and more young women are acting like this and it is deeply upsetting.
FDS focuses more on males/scrotes (rightfully so), but the reality of the modern world we live in is that values and morals have gone out the window for both men and women. We’re living in degenerate times. My suggestion would be to treat them no different than we treat scrotes, just because they’re women doesn’t excuse their behaviour.
the point here is that male scrotes behave like clients who are trying to buy from a seller even if they don't have the money or don't want to spend that amount on your things. they are just trying to rip you off, whether you're a woman or a seller. they just see what you got and want to take it. i must say that to me it makes more sense (no justification! they should not do it) it makes more sense when there are money involved in buying something, rather than in a romantic relationship. so yeah they act like scrotes because scrotes act like a poor entitled person trying to buy what they can't afford.
This sounds so frustrating - ugh! 😣
Working with the public has got to be the worst thing possible. I’m glad you’re going online only.
