This poor woman... My heart goes out to her. She's probably been abused her whole life (since childhood) and can't grasp the idea that she deserves better. This probably feels completely normal to her - her begging for love and accepting mere scraps from the person she's trauma bonding with. I'm also assuming that the man specifically targeted her because he could sense that she is way too kind and a people pleaser --> easy to take advantage of. I hope this turd of a guy dumps her and she finds healing before getting targeted by another abuser.

In my clown 20s, I was in a long-term relationship with a man who earned $150k/year. We split many things (rent, groceries, tickets to events, etc.) 50/50, and I also thought I would marry him. I was a student for much of the time we were together, and if I'd been a little bit poorer, this post would literally have been my reality.
Thanks for the reminder that going 50/50 with a man can lead to this type of dystopian nightmare.
