Are you blanket opposed to the public proposals?

I think it's a very inconsiderate and rude thing to do if the man hasn't given his girlfriend a heads-up about it discreetly, and there are a lot of ways for him to do this without giving away the "surprise" factor e.g. one way is asking his girlfriend what she thinks of public proposals beforehand and how she would feel about receiving one. And of course, he needs to be considerate of her answer like if she says "i hate them" or "it's a sweet gesture, but not for me," then yes, it would be an asshole move of him to do a public proposal.

I personally do hate them as I think it should be an intimate private moment and just find getting random people in the public involved really strange personally (ig to me it comes off as attention seeking and that itself seems pretty low value), but I'm not trying to tell people who are okay with them not to have them. I suppose we don't know if Alice had gotten the "ok" beforehand from her bf to do a public proposal, but we ALL are already assuming she didn't if we're all saying "she's lucky he didn't say no" or "she used the public nature of the event to manipulate him into saying yes." The point of my comment was to point out the flaw in Epsilon's youtube comment because it literally says "this is a tactic WOMEN are using" and its like men have been doing this for years yet it's only demonized when women do it when it really should be both parties are in the wrong if, as i mentioned before, there was no prior consent given. I'm blanket opposed to public proposals being used to manipulate a person into saying yes, if that's what you're wondering.

I would be absolutely MORTIFIED if I was proposed to in public. If a man I was seeing ever did that (assuming there was no conversation about it beforehand), it would just prove he doesn't really know me, and therefore I should not marry him.
