Her new album "Queen of Me" released today and I cannot stop listening to it. She has always been a huge role model for me, but even moreso after I learned her history and what she has gone through in her life to get to the tremendous successful life she has now.
Long story short, back in the ~90s when she was first gaining popularity in the US, her fame was largely due to her producer who already had a name for himself from producing other huge artists. They fell in love and married very quickly and everything seemed peachy. However, after 14 years of marriage, they divorced in 2008. He was cheating on her. With her BEST FRIEND.
Not only did Shania lose her (scrote) husband, but she lost her music producer. But, that didn't stop her from writing music and producing it on her own! She came out with an album in 2017 with songs recounting her marriage, but "Queen of Me" is all about her leveling up and finding herself. It's full of female empowerment and BOPS. 10/10 would recommend. That is all.
She was based back in the 90s with "That Don't Impress Me Much"
An FDS theme song if there ever was one
she didnt really 'make it big' until she was 30 too and i love that because the music industry is extremely sexist and ageist, even more so in the pop genre. bebe rexha was told at 29/about to turn 30, by a male music executive that she was getting too old and that her brand was “confusing.” Even taylor swift at 22 was afraid of ageing and losing her 'value' she sings about it on her song 'Nothing New' which she wrote at 22 but only released the song two years ago. Its insane that women no matter who they are or how successful they are, have all been made to feel they are worthless past 25. taylor literally went on to be 10x more successful in her 30's but she thought her life would be over.
I love her!
I don’t know if she still does, but I believe she lived/lives in a castle. so it’s perfect for a queen
