One big reason behind the pay gap and wealth gap that I rarely see explained (when the pay gap is brought up) is that it is a compounding penalty applied on women who have children.
Focus on prioritizing mother's -to where mother's in the workforce isn't a requirement for mothers to be valued. And suddenly you begin to shift from motherhood being wholly subsidized by the father in the private sphere (if that, given the rates of children out of wedlock) to motherhood being a career unto itself
