Be careful sisters, the backlash is already starting.
Singles (especially young women, old ladies who stay in the family home after their partner died and the kids are grown and women who leave their partners) living alone are regularly blamed for lack of affordable housing and the housing crisis in almost every western country. How dare they not live with their families and stay with their husbands and have the audacity to want independence, privacy and freedom and all that.
Some political parties here are already proposing to penalize and fine people who rent or own(!) more space than they consider "appropriate" (which is the size of a tiny dorm room + tiny kitchen and bathroom for a single person) to force them to take in roommates or to move into shared living situations again, even if they OWN the place. Be careful who you vote for.
This! There are so many apartments and houses in popular areas and the best locations that are only used for one week a year as a vacation home, stand empty altogether as an investment or are rented out to tourists via AirBnB.
But no! The problem is 80-year-old Edna who doesn't move out of the tiny but debt free 3-bedroom house she has lived in for 50 years now that her children are grown and her husband died! How dare she occupy valuable living space when she should be dead or at least live in a single room in a care home that will eat up all her savings in a year!
It's always like this tbh. The group that has been historically denied opportunities later becomes the powerhouse of the country. Tons of articles shocked about Latinos hustling, black women starting businesses....it's all poetic justice to me 😌

Who needs men again?
No surprise! Loving the news 👏🏻
I'm a renter but I also know that I could cut ties here at a moment's notice if I had to and move.
