But as a single woman, your primary concern should be yourself. Buying a home on a fixed interest rate (with no penalties for paying off the loan early) allows you to build equity and wealth over years. It's also a safeguard against rising home and rental prices. It's also an investment in yourself, because you will always have a place to go that is yours, and yours alone. No man will own it, so you can't be kicked out for any reason.
If you do get married, keep your home in your own name and rent it out for extra income that you keep SEPARATE from any joint finances. A pre-nup is a must in this case.
Do what you have to do, save everything you can for the down payment, and buy your own place. Give landlords the finger as you pull into your own, proper driveway.
