Most fashion brands sell women's clothes with the first purpose of them being to be sexy. Tight, revealing, cropped here or cut out there, using flimsy materials that are virtually see-through. Jeans that fit on your waist then squeeze the crap out of your butt, even though they're made of denim and it's super uncomfortable on your skin.
Has anyone heard of any female clothing brands that are specifically focused on solving this problem? Offering a line of clothes with women's comfort as the first priority? They can still look good, but I'm sick of every option being some sexualised male fantasy.
I went shopping over the last two days to get some new essential pieces for summer and was appalled at what kind of garbage stores are peddling as 'clothing' for women and girls.
The manuacturing has taken an absolute nosedive into the toilet, crooked seams, wrinkled finishes, loose threads and uneven fit. The fabric is cheap and thin as physically possible and far too much of the selection is incredibly revealing and otherwise over sexualized.
These big stores used to have decent clothing for decent prices. Now the prices have skyrocketed and quality disappeared. Because of this shopping is an absolute CHORE, sifitng through mountains of disposable future garbage instead of enjoying choosing beautiful new garments.
It makes me want to start a clothing brand with a classy, modest intelligent woman in mind. There is a maddening middle class market gap for this kind of clothing.
Men's clothes 😂
Some vintage can be really comfy.
Let's hear it for the return of relaxed fit jeans ladies!
I don't know if it's female-owned, but I'm loving pact these days. wearpact dot com, all organic, every dress has POCKETS, and the clothing is unbelievably comfortable to my picky nd self.
Following for more great recs
I know Lucy & Yak. They're UK based I think. The brand is focused on comfort and fair trade
Try Cos or Veronica Maine or even Uniqlo
Eileen Fisher and Cuyana are the first that come to my mind. Both founded by women, both super comfortable clothing. Eileen Fisher is a tad more chic than Cuyana which can lean a little boho.
Heart of Haute (mother and daughter owned)
I have a good luck with the Uniqlo clothing. Items I have bought are generally good quality for price and comfy to wear. Granted I mostly buy their clothing for casual days. The summer dresses have pockets, materials are nice too
I find Oak and Fort very comfortable and loose fitting.
