I am playing hookie from work and spending some time out in the woods away from civilization. The weather is beautiful and I am thankful to be living in a blue state.
I come from one of those families who used to consider themselves democrats, but once Trump came along, they began worshipping him and preaching about God and Christianity (we were never a religious family, never went to church, etc.). I was essentially ostracized from my family in 2016 because I did not support him. I moved to NY and very rarely heard from my family since then. They visited once, but were appalled at the rainbow flags hanging around because it was in June during Pride. They will never come back.
My birthday is this weekend and I doubt I will hear from anyone in my family. I am grieving today because it's true how society really does hate women. I don't think there will ever be a female president in my lifetime. I grieve for the message it sends to little girls who aspire to be president one day.
Where do we go from here?
ETA: I didn't expect this post to incite so much controversy. Everyone is welcome to their own opinion, of course, but please don't feed the trolls.
I am a woman. Sorry some of you need to whine "troll" every time someone disagrees with you. We exist, we won, and after these ridiculous conversations tonight I can clearly see why. FDSers are the only women I really want to talk to but that's not really what any of you are here for in relation to the election. Shit looks like Reddit out here.
We have people talking about schools who have never worked in one, people talking about how their own communities must hate themselves for voting right, whiners criers and bitchers because we don't believe the fear mongering hype, people crying about it from other countries whose own leaders will cut their bank accounts if they even have the "nerve" to protest (don't worry about our freedoms, you need to a get a grip on your own), and of course, people comparing the right to Nazis (you can bet on that one), people questioning whether I'm female just because I voted right (Well hey look. There were a lot of us, did that many women troll the election, too???) and on and on. The left and Kamala herself is a freakshow and it's clear as day why you all lost.
Please... seriously... pull yourselves together.
And you didn't just lose, you majorly fucking lost and instead of making solutions for steps forward, you get on FDS and act like Reddit men....
We are stronger as women TOGETHER. But you've all been insufferable as fuck tonight (and for YEARS) and logic and common sense have wholly escaped you.
For the couple of ladies willing to have a decent conversation even though our viewpoints differed, I salute you and really do appreciate the talks. You opened my eyes to some things today and I was here for that. I hope your party gets it together... you deserve better than what they keep handing you. I was here for civil conversations, not baby whiny asses crying "troll" every time someone disagrees with you or pokes holes in your already weak, flailing, baseless, parroted media arguments.
Good luck out there and try to dig deep and look at what is happening in front of your face over the next four years rather than what your little bought and paid for media outlets tell you to think. Drop the hype and the fear mongering and get real with yourselves, this country, what's happened under Biden and Kamala, and where we are headed... oh, and enjoy the wars ending, inflation decreasing, not having trans and identity politics shoved down your throat (a hallmark of communism, btw).
Most of all, enjoy being able to say "WOMAN" instead of "birthing" or "menstruating person" (which somehow still included men) to describe yourself. It seems so simple, but yeah we actually lost that privilege under Kamala and grandpappy Biden. The first and strongest way to eradicate a culture is to strip their language. So if you think that wasn't a big deal, you're sorely mistaken.
Good luck y'all.
