This is terrifying. And if we try to publicly condemn pornography now, we are labelled "prudes" and "swerfs." Degradation and brutalization of women is not only a click away, it's also accepted and normalized and beyond criticism. The only place where I feel free to share my anti-pornography view is here.
It's just so obviously fucked up, everything about it is messed up. When I clicked on to a porn site at 13, I was so scared because every video and advert resembles a woman being raped. But from men I have spoken to, their first time on a porn site as a child, they were instantly excited and aroused. I guess because they felt like this was a place they could "experience" the power over women that they craved.
Of course it warps your mind. By 20 I was watching porn every day. When I looked at people on the street, all I saw were bodies and objects of varying quality and appeal (men and women), which I judged instantly. That was the first thing I thought of.
Now being porn free for several years, my mind has returned to normal and I can't even imagine how I was in that headspace. It really messes you up.
Shit that’s a big # 🥺🥺🥺 this is so scary. I want to wrap my child and myself in a bubble or move to a deserted island and build a new life there
Porn is 100% an epidemic. Anyone who denies this is absolutely incorrect. But in hopes to a brighter future, I’ll play devil’s advocate. I will never consume porn due to sex-trafficking, abuse, rape, etc. of women and children. Also, it’s weird to watch other people have sex. I know many women who also do not watch or support porn. I don’t use Reddit anymore, but I believe r/antiporn, r/loveafterporn, r/pornismisogyny and other groups like this DO pull big numbers. I also know a young man who quit porn due to the industry. He didn’t quit for selfish reasons or religious reasons, which gives me a lot of hope for other young people out there. Many people are quitting porn and learning about the horrors of porn. I’m not denying porn isn’t a problem or that it’s going away, but this knowledge helps me stay hopeful that there will always be people NOT supporting that sick industry
That's almost all men, JFC!!!
Anyone else think that number's off? I just can't imagine most women enjoying porn.
I have to say that my extremely abusive narcissistic ex bf of 6 years, rarely watched porn. He told me once when we first met, "I don't watch porn. I'd rather be doing it, than watching it." And he was the biggest most disgusting whore I have ever met. So idk if men who don't watch porn are any better.
