I was watching old grooming and skincare videos recently on Youtube from the 40's, 50's, and 60's pertaining to makeup, grooming, and skincare. Many of us have learned skincare and beauty secrets from our mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and other female relatives or older women about how to care for ourselves. Which products or methods do you all still use to this day?

DON'T SMOKE (edited to add)*
-drink water
-don’t get sunburnt
-moisturise everyday (including your whole neck and collarbones, front and back)
-makeup removal can be done simply with cold cream or a basic moisturiser and warm water, this works for waterproof/long wear formulations
-don’t bother with a fifty step skincare routine, it’s* a waste of time and money
-avoid sunburns, wear a hat, carry a parasol, use sunscreen
-eyebrows are important, make sure they’re a good shape for your face
-lash and brow dye really help if you don’t want to wear makeup
*smoking causes wrinkles and smokers lips, my bestie and I are both nearly 40 and my skin is much better than hers because I've never been a cigarette smoker
Looking forward to more answers here! I am clueless about a lot of beauty stuff.
I like natural and from the inside-out types of methods the best. staying hydrated, exercising, getting out in nature(with sunscreen!), turmeric tea. But I could use some more advanced tips for sure.
I used to get cold sores a whole lot-maybe too specific but I know others get them too and I found that just a regimen of vitamin b, zinc, and iron and not eating peanut butter or chocolate has made them go away for a couple years now. They used to come every few months and last for weeks.
also any vegetables you can stand to eat. I personally hate most vegetables and just think of them as medicine. I use the blender and throw in ginger and kale and spinach beets and maybe some berries or an orange and make a smoothie and just down it. Also I eat whole avocados once or twice a week, spritzed with lime juice and salt for taste. They are supposed to be great for your skin and hair. I still get told I look young and I think it’s mostly cause of those things.
Vanicream One of my favorite daily moisturizers for face and body.
I also like to use rag curls or sponge rollers to curl my hair without heat, and lemon juice on my hair in the summer for subtle damage-free highlights.
Apple cider vinegar fixes everything.
Sunscreen, prescription retinol and a good, high quality moisturizer.
Retinol every night , save up on expensive shampoo drug store wud do and peptide serum keeps my skin supple . Collagen drink every night
Retinol and sunscreen. That's all you need. And healthy food rich in antioxidants.
Don't smile. And If you do don't do it often, Seriously your face hardly changes over time If you don't smile. I thought I was gifted with amazing genes because I never had plastic surgery while women around 25 already had minor treatments done or even consider it. Women of 24 years of age have laugh lines but I don't.
I put petroleum jelly in the fridge and use it when my skin dry, or egg face mask when it's flakey from the sun.
I'm looking into other things that can help like this vid
And this one about facial massage for the skin.
