Hi ladies,
Last year I donated my worn out leggings, but I haven't repurchased them. Frankly, I'm hesitating because I don't want to put the goodies on display by wearing leggings, but the only other alternative I've found is joggers, but those are shapeless. Either I look like a guy or put my bits on display.
Any suggestions? Or just get a few longer tops to wear over leggings?
PS. I'm tall, so the range of available jogger options is very tiny for me.
this is such a great point. i’ve been thinking about this lately too, and contemplating switching up my style to joggers. i’m a bike commuter though. and sleeker clothing makes my rides a lot faster and easier!
i think this is going to get more difficult as the weather gets warmer…when i am hot i just want to wear less clothing!
Pants made from knit fabrics rule. There's plenty nowadays which have real closures (not just drawstring) and are made from heavy double knits so they don't look like leggings and have good coverage. I like rayon blends because it gives a light, natural sheen (not plastic-like as in athletic wear) that makes them look more classy. I don't wear jeans at all anymore. When it comes to woven fabrics, I go for wide leg. Stylish and still comfortable, and they don't look weird at ankle length.
Maybe leggings with oversized graphic t-shirt combo can work for you? I'm tall as well and this is usually my go-to look (+ jacket) when it's cooler. When it's warmer, I swap the leggings out to mid-thigh length yoga/biker shorts. It's the best of both worlds; casual comfort while not showing the goodies. Very stretchy, straight leg jeans are another comfy alternative as well. Wide-leg pants & loose/baggy jeans are great too if you want to move away from form-fitting bottoms.
These are the best and most comfortable pants I have ever owned (I have both navy and black). They are as comfortable as leggings but not as casual looking (or tight). They are pricey but 100% worth it and will basically last forever. I got them over a year ago and wear them multiple times a week and they still look and feel brand new.

Honestly I still wear leggings for everyday wear because they are comfortable. I have many dresses that are too short on me because I have a naturally big butt so it's way to short in the back and I'll wear them with leggings. Or in the winter time I'll wear a longer cardigan or sweater to try and cover it. Pretty much every pair of pants look ridiculous on me so I go with what's the most comfortable because guys will sexualize everything.
Are regular pants out of style? I wear leggings only for sports.
I admit I'm bias, I see joggers as better quality sweatpants. I like chino pants, if they are cut right for your body type they are not baggy. Also ponte pants are good for colder weather and can be very flattering.
What are the occasions you need options for?
If it's working out and flexibility and stretch are important factors I would just wear a long top that covers my butt over them or opt for the joggers. Function beats style here, I think.
If you need options to replace leggings in everyday looks for work it's another matter. I've fallen in love with paperbag waist pants recently (not high waist jeans, the ones made from normal, slightly stretchy fabric). The high waist makes them sooooo comfortable and they look sleek enough to wear to the office.
