Ultra indulgent home spa day. All the masks, luxurious creams and oils; bubble bath if you have one; eat all the fancy beautiful foods you love; quality champagne. Start the new year right, full of self-love and pampering yourself. Everyone is different though, no shame if this ain’t your thing, but I strongly recommend an extra af self-care day.
Working out, planning for the following year, writing out goals, examining and reflecting on failures and achievements of the previous year, pampering yourself, reading and going to bed early.
Driving somewhere scenic to watch fireworks with a hot tea.
I have an invite to go out but newly sober I plan on doing something like these instead, depending on my mood.
I’m currently putting away the last of the Christmas things and will be doing a deep clean as I like to start the year fresh but your use of the word purge has got me thinking about burning some white sage on New Years Eve.
Ngl I was scrolling a bit too fast through this thread and completely misread your comment as “cooking meth for yourself” and am now dying laughing at my mistake.
I will be alone as well. I'll be contemplating what I would like to focus on for the year ahead. Might play some relaxing music and pamper myself as others suggested.
This isn't for everyone, but I got deep into tarot this year. I don't use it for fortune-telling but for exploring my own inner depths. On New Year's Eve, I do a Year Ahead Spread. You pull 13 cards: one card for each month of the upcoming year and an extra card that is like a theme for the year.
Over the course of the year, I check the card I pulled for whatever month I am in. I use it as a card of the month. It helps me focus, and I will often notice eerie occurrences throughout the month that connect to the card I pulled.

This is a great idea! I'm gonna have to break out the tarot cards tomorrow.
A few years ago I spent the night solo and it was wonderful!
i basically just spoiled myself all day and in the evening got myself a bottle of wine and ordered a meal from a nice restaurant. Watched movies and caught up on my shows all night.
Last three NYE's I've stayed home, but I'll probably go out. I won't drink much though. In fact I was thinking of going to one of my favorite coffeeshops for most of the evening and then I'll decide what I want to do. Not sure if those things are HVW activities necessarily but I don't think they're low-value either. I'm going out for my own enjoyment first and foremost. Probably bring a book and journal a bit while I'm at the coffeeshop.
I spent Christmas eve and Christmas solo (well, and with my cat) and totally snowed in. The windows of my house were entirely covered with snow - it was such a cool vibe. I got super into civ 6 (sorry to sound like a moid there) and yoga and got back into meditation and the vibe was SO nice, It felt so zen and relaxing and after a semester of non-stop work that brought me to the verge of burnout it felt like a total reset. I'm doing something for new years now and it's actually bumming me out a little since I'd love extra time to hole up and be all comfy again.
I hate nye. The last few years I was always by myself. Before that, when I was married, my ex husband managed to make me cry every single time by starting fights etc.
Not sure how tomorrow will pan out but I try my best to keep it together with lots of food (I don't drink)
My favorite NYE activity is to travel somewhere interesting. It’s a great way to mark the passing of time, remember other NYE’s whether partnered or single, and welcome the new year.
This year, I was in Nepal on a solo trip. It was amazing. I’ve marked NYE at Big Ben, the Sahara desert, an African safari, and the Caribbean. I’ve spent many NYE’s at home or with friends or my kids, but my most special memories were traveling.
If your budget allows, it’s a very self-care way to celebrate.

Spa if possible to purge the dead skin and dirt to make way for a clean slate to start the new year right!
Cook a great meal for yourself
Come over! I’m also solo this New Year’s Eve 🤣

I love to watch my favorite movies and catch up on my shows on New Year's Eve and Day.
