This is an odd situation and id appreciate some feedback. I applied for a marketing assistant position through a third party website and the job seems right down my alley and I already know this company and genuinely love and use their app. It's a position at a small start up (small as in, they launched last summer, have 5 full time employees, self funded and have an app with 15,000 paid monthly customers).
So I applied last week(may18) and got a reply from the head of marketing (who is the one hiring) this Tuesday(may24) and he said he'd like to set an interview and he asked for my email to send the invitation and then gave me 3 date options which where Wednesday may 25(yesterday), Thursday may 26 or Friday may 27 for me to choose from. I messaged back a that same day on Tuesday my 24th that Friday the 27th would be best.
So today is Thursday the 26th night and I have no reply. I've never been "ghosted" before an interview and I didn't even realize this is something that happens. Part of me thinking they're very busy but also they gave the interview date options and im thinking I just got rejected before even interviewing?
Has anyone had something like this happen? Or what are your thoughts about this? I feel like I should just forget this job completely even though it seemed like a great fit initially
This hasn’t happened to me, but it sounds sketchy in the worst case scenario and just plain unprofessional at best. Either way this seems like you dodged a bullet. You probably would not want to work for such a company, but if they do end up reaching out I wouldn’t burn a bridge there either.
Employers ghost ALL THE TIME. I've been ghosted by companies after 3 interviews. Get used to it. Thankfully it's an employee's market so there are lots of options
I'm curious for an update, if you don't mind. Did you have the interview?
I'd be curious to read their Glassdoor reviews and see how the company retention is. It sounds like this company doesn't have their shit together.
