SEOUL: South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol on Wednesday (June 19) declared a “national emergency on population”, rolling out measures to expand cash support for newborn babies and reverse the declining birth rate trend.
According to Yoon, the new measures stem from a thorough reassessment of the government’s past efforts to boost the country’s birth rate, which have proven ineffective despite substantial investments.
First, measures have been rolled out to support parents in balancing work and childcare responsibilities. These include the introduction of two weeks of short-term childcare leave for emergencies, such as when children fall ill.
Second, Yoon committed to the government taking responsibility in supporting childcare and vowed to gradually implement a public childcare system covering children from birth to 11 years old within his tenure.
Lastly, Yoon underscored the government’s commitment to tackling housing issues for newly-weds and families with children.
Initiatives include expanding housing allocations for households with newborns to 120,000 units, and developing new housing sites tailored for newly-weds and families with newborns or multiple children.
Looks like the 4B movement is working.
There are, of course, plenty of exceptions, but Korean men are, in general, LV as fuck. They expect to rule over their women and families with an iron fist. Their misogyny is in-your-face. Most of the time, they don't bother to hide it.
My Chinese mother always says:
"In a Chinese family, the meanest* person is the wife. In a Korean family, the meanest person is the husband. Everybody caters to him, because that's part of their culture."
