This is a problem I always try to explain to all the "Let's use AI to filter applications/data/CVs/write reports/whatever, it will be less biased than a human!" enthusiasts.
An AI is what you feed it with. AIs are - contrary to popular belief - quite stupid. If the main learning resource for your AI was racist, sexist, unscientific bullshit, the AI will spit out racist, sexist, unscientific bullshit.
Ok. And as it happens, an unvetted source of data like reddit is full of incorrect, and often contradictory, information. So the intent of chat gpt is not to give correct answers. But thats how people use it.
Well, it can give correct answers if all the material it has been fed was factually correct and the AI itself is properly programmed. That's why firms and goverment offices who use AI (and who aren't crazy) keep it completely offline and quarantined and only feed it fact-checked and closely monitored information to learn. That's the only way you can ensure it will give you halfway reliable answers. If that thing connects to the internet even once it becomes useless.
Nooo. The last time I asked chat gpt to describe fds it only had nice things to say. Reddit is gonna ruin it with their shitty incel opinions and coomer brain rot. Boo.
This was literally written by chat gpt and I posted it cuz it rocked. They had all the nice things to say. I am pretty sure I typed in something like “write a 300 word article about female dating strategy in a brutally honest, punchy tone.” Or something similar, this was a looong time ago. But it has such nice things to say!
I wonder what will change about it once reddit is used…
The neckbeards over on Reddit are no doubt cranking their micropeens to this decision, but it does not benefit them at all.
User generated content is more valuable than gold, and these machines are already scraping content from Reddit.
They will receive nothing, except the company will make gobs of money—they won't. They'll happily work for free, creating content to feed the machine. Oh, and it won't be enough to make AI better. It's quickly running out of content. The wall they speak of? They're about to hit it at 90 mph
My god, no. Of course Reddit, and internet comment sections overall, are sewers of bad ideas. But they're also where grammar and spelling go to die.
So AI is about to learn that "infact", "aswell", and "alot" are real words, and then people who dont know how to spell are going to cite AI as proof that they're real words.
