Cervical cancer will be eliminated in England by 2040, the head of the NHS has pledged thanks to new strategies to increase the uptake of vaccines and screenings.

I had the HPV vaccine when I was 16. Still caught HPV which was very persistent and stuck around for years. Just sayin.
I don't believe this will happen, mainly because of how poor the NHS is as a service. My granny died of cervical cancer, the NHS GP treated her symtoms as a yeast infection, they kept giving her anti fungal creams. Only when the cancer went into the next stage did they realise it was cervical cancer. She wanted them to remove her womb, they didn't. It's a horrible horrible way to die. It was so bad that as a child/adolescent my family didn't let me see her because it would be too upsetting.
The other reason is because the UK has the highest rates of most STDs (top 5 in europe). It also relies on men having sex safely and wearing protection. Most scrotes do not use protection. Sex ed is also poor in the UK, most people do not even know the cause of cervical cancer is by an STD.
With OLD and dating apps sex is becoming more accessible. So spread of the HPV will be even more frequent.
When I got the vaccine at school they said it would reduce cervical cancer by 30%, not 100%.
Smear tests can also be falsely negative. It can be missed.
It's just not realistic to claim that cervical cancer will be gone. That would rely on trusting men and trusting a public healthare service full of underpaid and overworked staff.
