Women can fall much further and be much more financially abused than a man moving in and splitting expenses with her 50/50. Men are shameless leeches and will take whatever you can give.
I do disagree on one point: never assume that just because a man is richer than you, that he won't try to take from you. I have a friend who is a forever girlfriend to a millionaire who is essentially homeless and lives in the home she owns and won't even pay rent to her. Many rich men are incredibly stingy! Never date a man who does not want to share his resources with you, no matter how wealthy he is!
