I disagree with Matt Walsh when he says that men paying for dates is rooted in traditional gender roles. Men should pay for dates because they are stepping into our space asking us to give them our attention, our time, our love, our compassion, our bodies, our support etc. Men approach women because there is something they want from that woman. So, if they are asking that woman for something, then they better give something in return. Paying for a meal is the bare minimum..

I hate him so much. On top of being a scrote for the reasons you mention here, he made a fairly good doco about transgenderism and then complained that there were no women standing up for women in this debate, completely ignoring the huge and ongoing radfem/gender critical movement that started way before he was on the scene. Complete arsehole.
I don't know the full scope of this conversation, Matt Walsh but I will comment: if a woman has to play her [preconceived and assumed] "role" then the man is setting her up for abuse. This is discussed in Why Does he Do that? Its problematic for that reason. You are not allowed to be yourself because they have a preset role you must fulfill and any deviation will be have you abused and of course you will deviate, we are only human, not a stepford. This man is ridiculous and he's at the very least emotionally abusive.
Men like him want to fulfill ONE what they consider "traditional gender role" and in return expect women to fulfill every single traditional gender role that was ever invented by men.
