After settling into the new FDS, something struck me. FDS on Reddit was a revelation as a female-only space and felt like a breath of fresh air online, but I'm only now realizing how restrictive it truly was. We can say anything we want now without fear of being kicked off for ridiculous shit. Funny, considering how the Reddit demographic screams the loudest about 'censorship' yet perpetuates it!
Thanks to the mods for taking the time and energy to migrate us to safety and set us up for a more stable future.
Also bc I was already on the site I’d browse other places which would end up pissing me off bc well reddit but now that FDS is on another site I’m no longer browsing Reddit which is great for my mental health
It's an incredible feeling not to be under the control of hateful men. I'm glad this site seems to be taking off since going private on Reddit. Another subreddit I like got removed as well, and is now has its own website. People are sick of their shit.
So true! We have way more freedom here. I feel like I’m getting everyone’s un-filtered thoughts and it feels so much better :)
I've gotten banned for some truly ridiculous reasons. Some I understand (being autobanned for interacting with certain subs, which saves mods a lot of work) and some were just out there (my first ban, when I said a certain provocative pop diva wasn't the HVW other FDSers thought she was, and so on- what was that about??). I never wanted to stay away though- once you've experienced a female only space, you don't want to go back! I think mods will still need to be cautious, but at least there is no autoban making it harder for women to seek and offer advice in a safe spot, giving us all a LOT more freedom as OP said. We all deserve it.
I've missed forums in general! It's so nice to get off of the social media giants and consume selectively.
